I opened up the Navionics boating app today. I was surprised to see it was showing my gps location and speed correctly. It isn’t the cellular version with internal GPS. Then I also noticed it showed AIS data as well. I used this iPad to setup the FloatHub so it connects to the private FloatHub wifi when we don’t have a wifi signal. I didn’t have to perform any setup in Navionics.
The “zero setup” version of this is due to the NMEA Broadcast feature that was introduced a couple of months ago. More details on that are avilable here:
