Anyone know if post processing is done on the GPS data. I have noticed the location is surprisingly accurate. I am in a steel boat and by default the antenna faces away from the sky due to internal mounting…still…very accurate.
There is not currently any post processing, no. We just take exactly what the GPS chip says, relay that to the server, and display on website.
We have looked at filtering, mostly to dampen down “spidering”; at rest GPS systems will often display spurious jumps in location that usually have small implications for location but can lead to surprisingly large speed-over-ground results which are not correct. Hard problem though, so for the time being no filtering in production.
